WOODMEISTER'S DRUM SITE

Hi! I'm Martyn, known to my frends as 'The woodmeister'. I've been playing drums since I was 12 and in my 20 years (has it been that long ?)I've had the pleaseure of working with a diverse range of bands, appeared on T.V. and radio and won the award for 'best instrumentlist' at the 1987 Suffolk Roack and Pop competition, at the ripe old age of 14. You caould say that I've been most experienced in the 'function band' arena, having clocked up 7 years with one of East Anglia's premier function bands - Glasswheel. Sadly Glasswheel is no more and I have spent the past 3 / 4 years working as a Semi-Professional 'freelance' drummer. Beside this, I am also one of the resident tutors at Anglia Drum Centre where I teach young beginers the basics of becoming a well rounded drummer. I'm notorious at Anglia Drum Centre for going through drum kits like water, but I say a change is as good as a rest!. My latest, and current, kit is a Tama Starclassic in Dk Cherry fade finish. I have the following sizes: 20x18 10x8 12x9 14x11 16x14 Yamaha 9000 14x5.5 wood snare (my baby) Vater 'Fusion' wood sticks Hot rods Wire brushes 'Rock Rake' brushes beaters I have a mixture of Tama / Yamaha hardware 'Iron Cobra' single pedal and Hi Hat stand Cymbals are all Zildjian: 13" K/Z Hats 15" K Dark Crash 16" K Dark Crash 20" K Custom Ride 8" A Splash 10" A Custom Splash I tend to taylor the kit to the situation, but my 'default' set up is a basic 4 piece. I call it 'the groove machine' because it's tight and funky and makes me concentrate on the groove.
