I am 12 years old, my name is Ben Newell, I go to Idsall school and i been playing the drums for a year and a half. This year I passed my garde 4 in drums with a merit. I love jamming with my mates, we love playin punk rock songs. There just so fun. The band i'm in is called the Part Time Punks. I have a ludwig kit with zildijian zxt cymbals; hi hat, china, ride and crash. For christmas I will be getting an electric kit. Not sure which one but i am getting one. I am a massive Dave Weckl fan. I am going to see him at the NEC arena in Birmingham on the 20th November.

I have had my kit since I was ten. It is ludwig kit and I love it. It sounds wicked and feels great to play. It's just a basic kit with a snare floor tom, small tom, medium tom and bass drum. I have got 4 cymbals; a crash, a ride, a china and of course the hi hat. They are Zildijian ZXT's and they are wicked. Basically I love my kit and wouldn't be able to live without it.

one thing that influenced me to play the drums is probably that when I hadn't been born but but iwas in my mums tummy well my Dad played me heavy metal and rock music. Things like meatloaf, led zeppelin, Black Sabbath and many more.

My band is called the Part Time Punks and we have been together for about 3 or 4 months. We have a drummer (me), a guitarist (Vin), a bass player (Tom) and a vocalist (Dev). We practice in my garage because that is the only place that has a drum kit. We don't play songs from 1 paticular band but we do play a lot of music recorded by Vin's uncle.

I would like a roland electric drum kit that costs £4000 or something like that. Also I would like loads and loads of cymbals and more drums like Dave Weckl has on his kit. Also I would ove to go backstage of one of Dave Weckl's shows to speak to him and see how it all happens and that.
