My name is Steve Hawthorn and I am 25 years and I've been playing the drums since I was 6. I started my drumming career in Queensbury Scouts Marchin Brass where I was taught all my snare rudiments by Richard Wilson (one of the true greats in my eyes) Read more about him in my influences. Whilst competing in the Premier Class of BYBA (British Youth Band Association) we won best percussion section a number of times and I also earned myself the title of 1997 and 98 BYBA 18u Individual Percussion Champion. After this I marched for 1 season with The Anchormen playing the Tenor Drums in DCUK. I then left to concentrate at college where I studied Music Technology and started drumming in Rock Bands! I finished college with a BTEC ND in Music Technology and now play in Melodic Hardcore band called LeadTheWay. Here are the bands I've played, sessioned or tech'd for:

In my marching days I played a Premier HTS Gut Snare with a Remo Falam Head, i later switched to the Premier Tendura head as this had more response!
My first Kit was a 5 piece Premier Olympic in a black and brown finish. The cymbals i used back in them days was a cheap Paiste 101 set!
My next Kit after this was a Yamaha Stage Custom in a marina green finish, I used to play this as a 6 piece and it was all racked with a Gibraltar racking system! But when I started playing punk I took away the rack and went down to a 4 piece. Cymbals I used then were Sabian Pro's!
The Kit I have now and love to bits is a TAMA Rockstar. I played many Kits before choosing this one, to me this sounded much better than some of the more expensive Kits! It is a 4 piece and has a blue finish but under some lights looks black! I'm using evans skins on my toms and the vented Evans Genera skin on my snare! I'm using Zildjan A Custom Projection Crashes and Zildjan ZBT Hihats and Ride!
