MEEJA'S DRUM SITE

I'm Mark and I've been playing drums for nearly 20 years. I also play guitar, sing and write music and songs. I play golf and snooker in my spare time and work at my local golf club - but don't be fooled, I'm a much better drummer than golfer! My last band broke up recently so I am looking to find people to join up with currently, and I play all styles too as I've been in various groups since the school band got me started back in 1985! I read and took music 'A' level as well as continuing my theory studies.

At the moment I'm repairing an old Premier olympic kit. I'm rebuilding or replacing the hardware and slowly using those old shells to build my perfect kit! I use a 13", 15" and 22" bass, with two snares a 14"x5" and a 14"x7". The lacquer is a blue shell type affair which is particularly attractive, and I love the old style badges. The premier snare is black and the other is currently being sanded down for re-lacquering soon, I'm looking into the possibility of using Fablon if the sound will still ring through. I used it in the studio 'naked' as it were (not me, the drum)and It sounded beautiful. As for cymbals I'm currently moving to Sabian.

Where do I begin? I like modern drummers like Steve White and Andy Gangadeen, Steve Gadd, Clyde Stubblefield, Shelley Mann, Michael blair, Idris Mohammed, Airto, Buddy and the king Gene Krupa!
