LEOKENT'S DRUM SITE

Hello my name is Liam! I first got into drumming at the age of 11 when I saw a drummer give a virtuoso perfomance. The whole feel of it made me determined to be a drummer. I bought my first kit in August 2003. I have since bought a double pedal and have learnt quite a lot. My teacher said that I am about grade 5, that was late 2003. I have never been tested as it were so I cant tell you exaclty what grade I am. I started playing in bands about a year after I started learning. I started learning at the age of twleve in my school. My hopes are to become a pro player with a metal band. I hope also to become an influence on other players or people who want to get some knowledge in drumming and music. :-)

I bought my kit in August 2003 second hand. It is a Premier Olyimpic and is in decent condition however I would like a new kit to gig with :(. After I bout the kit I bought a Pearl p100tw double pedal in October 2003. Then in January 2004 I bout a standard set of Paiste 502 cymbals to upgrade the poor ones I had. Then later in April I bought a matching set of china and splash to extend my sound capabilities. My current set up is: 10 x 12, 11 x 13 mounted toms, 16 x 16 floor tom, 16 x 22 bass drum, 5 1/2 x 14 wood snare, Paiste 502 cymbals - 14 hihats, 10 splash, 16 crash, 18 china, 20 ride, And an 18 Meinl crash. Harware: Pearl p100tw double pedal, Premier 2000 hihat stand, Premier stool (not sure about model :S), Mapex boom stand, Stagg boom arm and attatchment, Premier 2000 boom stand, Pearl c800 straight stand, Gibralter boom arm and attatchment.

I mostly listen to metal music because of its hard hitting beats and pounding guitar riffs. My main influences however are not all from metal. My favourite drummer at the moment is Thomas Lang. My metal drummer influence is Spug from Mudvayne because he fuses differnet styles along with other members and truly creates music :). I really like Chad Smiths style too because he knows how to make a beat really make a song be funky and cool. Other favourites are Dan Foord from Sikth, Ricky (something) from Chimaira, and John Otto from Limp Bizkit. All these are very different players who really stand out because of their style, they also mix a lot of other styles to creats really good music.

None!

At the moment I am in two bands, one of which needs a singer and bassist :S! My other band is a side project and so is aptly named Side Project 24! This is a full band and we hope to be gigging soon. My previous band which was called Disturbing the Silence played two gigs which were very successful however we couldnt continue as a band as the bassist left and the other members wanted to do other things. Now funnily enough my two bands have the members in! My side project band has the singer in it but he plays bass now! The other is the guitarist. This band is the heavier band and since the guitarist has been a very good friend of mine for years this is my priority band. The other with the singer/bassist in is slightly lighter but still has a lot of potential. We all hope to be gigging soon and obviously our goal is to make it big!

At the moment my favourite company/drum manufacturer is Pearl because they make excellent drums and hardware and their sound is awesome. My dream set up is: 8 x 10, 9 x 12, 14 x 12 Mounted toms, 16 x 16, 16 x 18 floor toms, 18 x 22 bass drum, Sabian cymbals: 14 and 15 AA metal-x hihats, 8 and 10 AAX splashes, 17 and 18 AA metal-x crashes, 19 and 20 AA rock crashes, 18 and 20 AA chinas, 22 HH Heavy ride, Hardware all pearl: Eliminator double pedal, 3 sided ICON rack with all attatchments for drums and cymbals, Eliminator Hihat stand, 2000sb Throne.
