My earliest influence was Rat Scabies from The Damned after I'd seen them support Marc Bolan at the Glasgow Apollo in 1977. I love Hugo Burnham's playing too. When I got into rock music, it was Ginger Baker, Ian Paice and then John Bonham. Ahhh! Bonham triplets!! heaven! I listened to Steve Gadd, Vinnie, Weckl and Dennis Chambers was another player I enjoyed. I must admit though, all this fusiony type stuff bewilders me, and I keep leaning back on rock drummers. Ted McKenna is one of the absolute best, and I also admire Raymond Hererra. Some of his patterns are really nice. Raymond Herrera was the only recent drummer to get me fired up in a long time...
