FUNK YA' MUM'S DRUM SITE

im about 5 ft 8 inches. I have quite tanned skin. I have long curly hair (quite suited to drumming i thought). my intrests r pretty much music art and women and realy theres not much more i can say.

i woz browsing on ebay one day and looking for a new kit when a i came across a yamaha beech custom for sale i was a bit put off by the colour shown in the photo at first but then i realised it was going for £400 and it was not far from me at all. So I went to look at the kit and it was beautful i bought it then and thee with hardware and cases included for £500. which i must say is the bargain of the century. So now i have a yamaha beech custom kit in lime green. My set up is 22" bass drum. 10" high tom and a 14" low tom i then have a 13 x 3 pearl maple piccolo snare which i have tuned realy well and it gives out the loadest phatest sound around. As far as cymbals go i have a pair of zildjian 13" z custom hi hats, a sabian aax stage ride and a sabian aax 16 inch crash. these are beutiful cymbals simply because the are amazingly versitile and they hold their shimmer at any volume.- that is my kit and i love it.

Over the past two or so years my musical taste has become incredibly varied. i started out listening to the usual incubus. the foo fighters, silverchair, muse and the deftones bands like that. but now i have discovered bands and artists like: Frank Zappa the john spencer blues explosion, Beck, Old red hot chilli peppers, Eric clapton, Captian Beefheartand his magic band, Soulive, Primus (my personal favourite), Jeff Buckley, At the drive in, Alabama 3. counting crows, Pink Floyd and Rory Gallagher. so i am now listening to drummers such as terry bozzio, Steve gadd, tim alexander and brain. But also i am influenced by the obvious greats of who i had watched many videos and dvd's people like buddy rich vinnie coaliuta dave weckle and carl palmer. all of these influences have turned me into a very individual drummer using lts of different time signatures and so forth.

I am in a few bands but my favourite has to be a band called 'Funk Ya' Mum' we play a mixture of funk jazz blues and rock all mixed together my guitarist is heaviy into miles davis and herbie hancock but at the say time funkadelic and clapton whereas my bassist is into primus at the drive in and the bassist he idolises over is a guy called nathan east who playes with eric clapton amongst others. we are primarily an instrumental band but in around 5 of our tracks we have put vocals to them our vosalist is gr8 she has a realy bluesy jazzy voice which suites our more chilled music perfectly. And then we have done a couple of tracks with a second guitarist who for those more heavy tracks adds a bit more meat and volue we need. We've been together about a year and a half we have a solid amount of material and gig quite frequently. W have so far recorded 4 tracks but we are soon going to record another 7 tracks very soon so we should have enough for a full album. but the one hign we allways say is that music although its about reaching out to people but at the age of 14 all we need to do is have fun and experiment with as many different styles as we want this is why our music is rather obscure at times and messy at times but were playing what we love.

i a dream world i would have just aa simple four piece set up as i do now but it would be a dw collectors series and i would have a woofer on my bass drum. As far as cymbals i would most probalby have a 16 and a 18" crash a 18" china a 8" splash 20" ride and 13" hi hats and a 8" zilbell but i would have several different version of each sized cymbal so i could have a cymbol collection that would suit whatever style i wanted to play. i would have a a dw 9000 double pedal and a collection of snares including a piccolo of some kind not to sure what yet i would make up my mind upon playing probably a deep wooden shell snare and then a 2 regular 14 x 5.5 snares 1 wood one steel. But until that hapens which it wont for many years to come i am happy with my kit as it is now .
