I'm Paul Stenning and I've been playing drums for 31 years. I come from Sussex, UK.
I've a very broad range of musical styles and over the years I've played in various Brass, Big Band, Jazz, Soul and Rock style bands, both covers and originals, and backed numerous shows.
I can currently be found playing in a couple of regular bands; The Project, a 6-piece classic rock covers band and Functionality, a 13-piece party band playing all sorts of stuff. I am also involved with a 7-piece rock band playing older covers (Stones, Led Zep, Cream etc.) and from time to time a 22-piece big band.

My current main set-up is a Pearl MLX kit in sheer blue:
22x16 Kick; 8x8, 10x10, 12x10, 14x12, 15x15 Toms; 12x7 Pearl Soprano FX maple snare; 14x4 Yamaha copper piccolo snare.
I recently upgraded the hardware to the new Pearl 2000 range (in my opinion probably the finest stands available!) and the Pearl DR503C curved rack system.
I also use Iron Cobra hi-hat and double pedals and the Pearl Eliminator remote hi-hat pedal. Cymbals are all Zildjian: 13" K/Z combo on the hi-hat, 12" Special Recording on the remote hi-hat and various K's around the kit, plus the odd A Custom.
For mics I use AKG all round, through a sub-mixer to the main desk.

A difficult one, this, as there are numerous!
Here goes:
Buddy Rich, Vinnie Colaiuta, Jon Hiseman, Dennis Chambers and the late, great Jeff Porcaro

I've been a founder member of the Soul Kats for some 14 years now. We don't play very often anymore (about once every 12 months!) but when we do, we're a 12 piece soul, rhythm 'n' blues band with a great horn section.
My current main bands are a 13-piece function band called Functionality and a 6-piece classic rock covers band called The Project. Between both bands, we cover a wide range of numbers from soul, rock, pop old and new. They are both good bands and available now for bookings! See my links for more info.!

Recently managed to persuade the wife to let me go and buy a second kit, on the basis I needed another one for smaller jazz/big band gigs...!
I went for a Premier Artist Heritage Birch in jazz sizes (18x14 kick, 10x9 and 12x9 toms & 14x14 floor) in White Marine Pearl. It's a nice little kit and I think it'll be perfect for rehearsing and smaller gigs. Very retro!
